The Australian School of Mountaineering is a locally owned and operated business in the heart of the Blue Mountains. Our guides and office staff are dedicated to delivering spectacular experiences, and that work starts when we receive your booking.

As administration costs are incurred as soon as we commence processing your booking and additional costs are incurred in the weeks prior to your trip, the following fees apply for cancellations and changes to your booking:

Please note that a non-refundable booking fee of 10% is incurred at the time of purchase.*

- 14 days or more notice: 10% fee to reschedule or cancel your booking
- 14 - 5 days notice: 30% fee to reschedule or cancel your booking
- 5 days or less notice: You forfeit your full payment
- No Show: You forfeit your full payment

Full payment is required 14 days prior to your course date.**

ASM reserves the right to cancel any reservations with an overdue balance where reasonable attempts have been made to contact the reservation holder.

We strongly advise that participants obtain insurance to cover any fees that may be incurred due to unforeseen cancellations. Covermore offers competitively priced cancellation insurance.

Red Balloon Vouchers
Red Balloon bookings are subject to our terms and conditions. In the event of a cancellation, Red Balloon may reissue or refund your tickets at their discretion, however ASM is unable to offer any refunds for Red Balloon vouchers.

Insufficient Numbers
In the unlikely event that ASM must cancel your course due to insufficient numbers, every effort will be made to offer you alternative dates for this course. If alternative dates are not suitable, a full refund of your course fee can be given.

Group number changes
ASM needs to be informed of any changes in numbers or clients as soon as possible. Where a quote has been given for a group booking any reduction in the number of clients may result in higher price per person for the course/activity. An increase in group numbers may not always be possible. To avoid disappointment please notify us of any changes as soon as possible.

Weather
Our programs still run in most weather conditions. Weather in the mountains can be very different to that in Sydney, and can even vary from area to area within the Blue Mountains.

Your booked activity will run unless you are informed otherwise. We may be able to offer you an alternative activity/trip if weather affects your activity. However, if we need to cancel your scheduled activity/course we will make every effort to contact you.

Participants that make their own decision to not attend a trip based on weather conditions, where the course or activity is not cancelled by ASM, will forfeit their full course/activity fee.

Only when ASM must cancel a course or activity due to adverse weather conditions will refunds be given.

Winter Courses & Climbing Expeditions

We run only a limited number of winter snow courses and climbing expeditions each year, with a limited number of places – we often have to turn people away as courses book out quickly, and filling a cancelled place at short notice is not always possible.

As considerable resources are expended when organising winter courses and climbing expeditions, the following fees apply for cancellations and changes to your booking.

Please note that a non-refundable booking fee of 20% is incurred when booking winter courses and expeditions.

- 30 days or more notice: 20% fee to reschedule or cancel your booking
- 30 - 14 days notice: 50% fee to reschedule or cancel your booking
- 14 days or less notice: You forfeit your full payment
- No show: You forfeit your full payment

Full payment is required 30 days prior to your trip start date.

Gift Cards/Vouchers

All Gift Card purchases are final and non-refundable. Gift Vouchers are not redeemable for cash and cannot be refunded or exchanged for change-of-mind or change-of-circumstances. This does not affect your consumer rights under Australian Law.

- All valid and unused Gift Vouchers are fully transferable to any of our courses
- Gift Vouchers are transferable to other people’s names.
- Gift Vouchers cannot be used in conjunction with promotional offers.
- Gift Vouchers will expire 5 years from the date of purchase.
- ASM accepts no responsibility for any stolen or fraudulent Gift Vouchers. It is the holder's responsibility to ensure the safekeeping of the Gift Vouchers(s).

When you make a purchase on behalf of another individual (such as purchasing a gift card for them) and you provide us with their personal information, you warrant that you are authorised to provide us with that personal information and that we are able to use that personal information for the purposes as set out in our privacy policy. This includes, for example, using their email address to undertake delivery of the purchase.

Gift Vouchers may not, without the prior written consent of ASM, be resold or offered for resale (including via on-line auction or other unauthorised resale sites) or used for advertising, promotion or other commercial purposes. If a gift voucher is sold or used in breach of this condition, the gift voucher may be cancelled without a refund and the holder of the gift voucher will be unable to use the gift voucher.
